Lovely village house in Roujan, Herault, close to the ancient and popular town of Pezenas. House has 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 3 terraces, 2 kitchens and a private swimming pool. The property is over 3 floors and enjoys great views over the roof tops to the hills beyond. It comfortably sleeps 6- 8 people. Nearest airport is Montpellier at 45 mins, but others include — Carcassonne (1 hr 25), Perpignan (1 hr 30), Nimes (1 hr 30), Toulouse (2 hrs), Gerona (2 hrs 15).
There is a terrace for every occasion: the pool with its surrounding terrace to enjoy the sun after a dip. A 1st floor sun terrace which is great for enjoying the Mediterranean sun and eating alfresco. Adjacent to this is a 21 square metred covered terrace which looks out over the pool and has a solid roof of canal tiles. This has just been rebuilt with natural wood and hand made floor tiles and looks brill — perfect for relaxation or reading in the welcomed shade.
Our lounge/salon has a wood burning stove, and traditional wooden beams which leads to the kitchen and conservatory. The village views from here are quite lovely.
The 3 bedrooms also enjoy different characters — the top floor bedroom enjoys traditional shuttered windows & old French floor tiles. The "Cave" bedroom is where the wine was stored years ago — it has it's own ultra-chic newly created wet-room and looks onto the downstairs terrace. The newest bedroom, tiled with handmade terracotta tiles, looks out over the swimming pool and has it's own up to date en-suite shower room.
Our pool, newly built this year, is great for a dip on a hot day or for the kids to play in. Pool is floodlit at night and is in-ground with its own terrace and palm tree. On this floor there is also a small kitchenette with fridge — perfect for fetching chilled drinks.
The village — Roujan is a busy little village with 2 bars, a restaurant, 2 bakeries, 2 butchers, 2 convenience stores and take away Pizza. It also has a florist and a chemist. Everything is in easy walking distance — Nothing better than stepping out to buy your fresh croissants for breakfast on the terrace.
The area — Roujan is perfectly placed for exploring the area, and there are a vast number of activities that you can enjoy. Horse-riding, canoeing, golf swimming, visting the Haute Languedoc National Park. There are a great number of things children will enjoy, from the beach which is about 20 min away, to Aqualand, Sigean Safari Park, Aquarium, Dinosaur Park, Caves — Grottes de Clamouse. The area is steeped in history and historical buildings — wonderful mediaeval architecture of Carcassonne and Pezenas along with the old town of Beziers. There is much much more, you will not be bored here!
